What's included in a Free Car Check?

Our free car check contains information about a vehicle's identity including Tax & MOT status, MOT history & vehicle identity. Just enter the vehicle registration.

A free report includes the following information:

Vehicle Identity

The Vehicle Identity section contains basic information from the DVLA about the vehicle such as it's manufacturer and colour.

Field	Description
Make	The vehicle manufacturer.
Model	The vehicle model and trim level.
Fuel	The vehicle fuel type.
Colour	The colour of the vehicle.
Year	The year of vehicle manufacture.

Tax & MOT

The Tax & MOT section contains information about the current status of the vehicle Tax & MOT including current vehicle excise duty costs.

Field	Description
Tax	The vehicle tax expiry date.
MOT	The vehicle MOT expiry date.
Tax (12 Months)	The cost of taxing the vehicle for 12 months.
Tax (6 Months)	The cost of taxing the vehicle for 6 months.

Vehicle Information

The Vehicle Information section contains extended information about the vehicle specification such as brake horse power and engine displacement.

Field	Description
Vehicle Type	Description of the vehicle body type e.g. Car or LCV.
Emissions	The vehicle CO² emissions in grams per kilometre.
Tax Band	The vehicle excise duty band.
Registered	The date of vehicle registration.
Engine	The cylinder capacity of the vehicle engine (cc).
BHP	The vehicle power (brake horse power).

Mileage History 

A free Mileage History check shows all mileage readings recorded by test centres each time the vehicle has been presented for an MOT. Any discrepancies are highlighted indicating that the vehicles mileage may have been altered.

Field	Description
Current Mileage	The most recent mileage recorded during the vehicle's most recent MOT test.
Average Mileage	The average mileage travelled by the vehicle per year.
Mileage Status	Indicates if the vehicle has 'Below Average', 'Average' or 'Above Average' mileage.
Mileage Breakdown	Lists all recorded mileage included the date recorded and the mileage increase between the most recent MOT tests.

MOT History

The MOT history section displays all recorded MOT tests including any advisory notices that were issued or reasons for failure.

Field	Description
Test Date	The date of the MOT test.
Result	Indicates if the vehicle passed or failed the MOT test.
Mileage	The mileage recorded at the time of the test.
Advisories	Lists all advisory notices issued during the test.
Failures	Lists all reasons for refusal to issue and MOT certificate.

What's not included?

A free car check includes only basic information about the vehicle and it is recommended to buy a full vehicle history report for purchasing a used vehicle. A full report indicates if the vehicle has outstanding finance, has ever been written off or stolen along with a number of other important checks.
