What's Included in a Car History Check?

Our Car History Check service allows you to check information about a vehicle's history including Outstanding Finance, Written Off and Stolen status. Just enter the vehicle registration.

A full report includes the following information:

Vehicle Identity

The Vehicle Identity section contains basic information from the DVLA about the vehicle such as it's manufacturer and colour.

Field	Description
Registration	The vehicle registration number.
Vehicle	Short description of the vehicle, including make, model, year and colour.
Body	Short description of the vehicle body type, including number of doors and seats where available.
Tax	The current vehicle tax status including expiry date.
MOT	The current vehicle MOT status including expiry date.

Important Checks

The Important Checks section contains important information about the history of a vehicle.

Field	Description
Outstanding Finance	Returns the current finance status of the vehicle including any outstanding agreements in place. *Included in gold reports only
Written Off	Indicates if the vehicle has been written off, including the date and category of write off as recorded by the insurer.
Imported / Exported	Returns details about the import and export status of the vehicle. Import and export dates are provided where available.
Scrapped	Indicates if the vehicle has been scrapped.
VIC Inspected	Returns information about any VIC inspections completed on the vehicle.
Colour Changes	Returns information about any colour changes recorded against the vehicle.
Plate Changes	Returns a list of plates transferred on and off the vehicle along with the date of transfer.
Stolen	Indicates if there is a stolen marker issued against the vehicle.
Mileage	Indicates if any mileage discrepancies were found with the vehicle.

Mileage History 

The Mileage History section displays a full list of each individual mileage reading as recorded during each MOT test. You can also access this information for free using the MOT Check service.

Field	Description
Date	The date of the odometer reading.
Mileage	The mileage recorded, along with the format, e.g. Miles or Kilometres.
+/-	The difference between the previous and current mileage reading. Any reduction in mileage will appear as a negative figure and be highlighted.

MOT History

The MOT history section displays all recorded MOT tests for the vehicle. Tests that take place in Northern Ireland are not currently included. There is no need to pay for this information alone as you can access the full MOT history of a vehicle for free using our Check MOT History service.
